No land to Private Educational Institutes: Governor, Punjab





Chandigarh 25th April’12

 “Govt would provide connecting roads, water, electricity & other facilities etc., but would not give land to start new educational institutes because govt doesn’t own the land & land belongs to farmers. An entrepreneur should start Educational Institutes in the rural areas instead of big cities and atleast 30% seats should be given to the economically backward students.”This was said by His Excellency the Governor of Punjab and Administrator Chandigarh, Sh. Shivraj V Patil while inaugurating ‘Management Day’ which was organized by Chandigarh Management Association (CMA) at PHD Chamber, Sector-31, Chandigarh, today.

 The theme of the day was “Industry Academia Collaboration-Challenges & Opportunities”. Dr.Rajneesh Arora, VC, PTU, Jalandhar was the guest of honour while Dr.Anshu Kataria, President, CMA & Chairman, Aryans Group of colleges presided over the Function. The event was organized in association with Aryans Group, LPU, and PTU. 

 Dr. Ramesh Kanwar, Vice- Chancellor, LPU & Mr. Dalip Sharma, Regional Director, PHD Chamber also addressed the gathering. Around 200 top notch Industrialist, Entrepreneurs, Professionals, Academicians attended the function.

CMA honored few Educational Institutes including Gurukashi University, Bathinda; Gulzar Group of Institutes, Ludhiana; SUS, Tangori; Bodh Group of Institutes, Patna; Bharat Group of Institutes, Sardulgarh; Universal Group of Institutes, Lalru; IET, Bhaddal & Aryans Group of Colleges, Chandigarh. These were honored for establishing higher education institutions for providing quality education and helping youth getting employment. CMA also awarded Dr.Rajneesh Arora, Vice Chancellor, PTU with the life time achievement award.

 Speaking on the occasion, Dr.Rajneesh Arora, Vice Chancellor, PTU said that Industry academia collaboration would help in facing the current situation .There is a big gap between the job providers & job seekers & this gap can be bridged when industry & academia work together.
 While addressing the audiences Dr. Anshu Kataria, President, CMA & Chairman, Aryans Group focused on Challenges faced by Education Institutes in India.  He further said that India's higher education system contributes around 3,50,000 engineers and 2.5 million university graduates annually to our workforce but still about 5 million graduates remain unemployed. There is a need for effective intervention of industry to understand employer needs, variable sector specific skills, training requirements that improve business performance, articulation of business expectations in education institutions and engagement of industry leaders with higher education institutions.

Kaushal , Mr. Jagtaran Singh Nayyar, Mr. A.S. Tanda, Col M.G.S. Khurana, Mr. T.S. Chhabra, Mr. H.S. Bhatti , Mr. J.S. Bedi, Dr. P.K. Vasudeva ,Sh. Charanjit Singh were also present on the occasion.
