Aryans in association with PGI organizes “Blood Donation Camp”


Srinagar 28 January

Aryans Institute of Nursing and Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh today organized “Blood Donation Camp” at Aryans Group of Colleges, situated at Chandigarh-Patiala Highway, near Chandigarh. Dr Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group inaugurated the event.

A 8 members team of Doctors, Nurses and technicians from PGIMER, Chandigarh under the leadership & guidance of Dr. Neelam Marwaha , Prof. & head, Transfusion medicine , Dr. Vinay and Dr. Bala Bhaskar, MD, Transfusion medicine conducted thorough medical checkup of voluntary donors and selected the eligible donors to donate blood. The students were given certificates and donor cards along with refreshments.

Dr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group while motivating the students said that a person can save 3 lives from 1 unit blood.  He added that these camps not only provide blood to the blood banks but also are a great boon to the thalassemia and leukemia patients who need blood infusions frequently. A total of 57 units of blood were collected by the students and staff of Aryans.

Kataria appealed the youth to donate blood for this noble cause. He congratulated the donors and encouraged the students to continue the blood donation every year, so that the patients who die due to paucity of blood may survive.

Dr. Parveen Kataria, Director General, Aryans Group said that worldwide millions of lives get saved every year because of blood donation and many more can be saved. She added that the college is looking forward to organize such camps on regular basis as Blood is Life and blood donation is noble cause.

Dr. Manjula Kataria, Principal, Aryans College of Education said that such camps will kindle a spirit of social service in the student community. Quoting the benefits of donating blood, she further said that it helps to maintain healthy heart, increases red blood cells production, helps in decreasing body weight and on top of it improves the psychological health as it gives a feel good factor.

Prof B S Sidhu, Registrar, Aryans Group added that “None of us can survive without blood in our body and Blood Donation is a service to the society”. He appreciated the students who donated their blood. “It feels good when people come forward for a noble cause, especially when we see enthusiastic feeling of youngsters for mankind” he added.
