Basant Panchmi Celebrated at Aryans Group

Basant Panchmi was celebrated at Aryans Group of Colleges (AGC) today at the college campus. The festival was celebrated with full vivacity and festivity to mark the end of the winters. The members of the institute decorated the campus with yellow rangoli. Staff and Students wore yellow cloth and Yellow rice a dish specific to the occasion was also distributed among all present. The students showcased the vibrant tradition of Punjab depicting the spirit of inner freedom, creative pride and zest for life. Mr.K.K.Soni, Chief Regional Manager, Indian Overseas Bank, Chandigarh was the Chief Guest on the occassion. The function was presided over by Dr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group.

Around 450 students actively participated in various competitions on the occassion like mehandi, rangoli, pot painting, kite flying etc. After that, everybody enjoyed dancing on the beats of music.

It is to be mentioned here that 5th day of the bright fortnight of the lunar month of Magh is the day of Basant Panchmi. This Panchmi is also known as Saraswati Day as it is believed that this day is Saraswati's birthday. Yellow color is given special importance on this day. Sweetmeats of yellowish hues are exchanged with relatives and friends.
