SC/ST Counselling concludes at Aryans Group of Colleges
6500 crore for SC/ST students under scholarship

Around 183 students participated today on 2nd and last
day of SC/ST/OBC Counselling held at Aryans Group of Colleges situated at
Chandigarh-Patiala Highway, Near Chandigarh. Out of this, 42 eligible students
were selected for scholarships in various courses. Those who could not
participate on any of the 2 days of counseling, can contact 84277-78000,
84273-44888 to avail the benefit.
While interacting with the students, Dr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans
Group said that there is a provision of around 6500 crore to be disbursed to
SC/ST/OBC students under Post Matric Scholarship Scheme for the year 2013-14.
But students are not able to avail the full benefits of these scholarships due
to lack of awareness.
Dr. Kataria further said that the scholarships were given in
various courses like M.Tech, MBA, B.Tech, B.Tech (LEET), BBA, BCA, B.Ed, B.Com,
B.A., Polytechnic, Nursing (GNM), +1, etc. He further said that the basic
purpose of organizing the Counseling was to make the SC/ST and OBC students
aware about various Scholarship schemes available for them.
Prof. A P Jain, Director, Aryans Group said that Scholarships were
awarded to the students who have secured not less than 50% marks or
equivalent grade in the previous final examination and the annual income of
whose parents/guardian from all sources does not exceed Rs. 2.5 Lakh.
Dr. Kataria said that the students coming under minority category in
India like Sikhs, Muslims, Buddhists, Jainism and Parsi can avail the benefit
of Ministry of Minority Affairs (MOMA) scholarship which is meant for the welfare
and for financial assistance to brilliant students of minority class to obtain
higher as well as professional qualification.
He further said that above Post Matric Scholarship Scheme's main
objective is to award scholarships to meritorious students belonging to
economically weaker sections of minority community so as to provide them better
opportunities for higher education increase their rate of attainment in higher
education and enhance their employability.
