HP Minister launches Aryans Awareness Drive
Aryans
Group of Colleges, Chandigarh has started a special campaign for deserving
students of Himachal Pradesh in an event organized by Aryans Group of Colleges
in Shimla. The campaign was launched today by Dr. Dhani Ram Shandil, Social
Justice and Empowerment Minister, Himachal Pradesh for the students of the
region. Chairman, Aryans Group of Colleges, Dr Anshu Kataria presided over the
event. Minister also launched a toll free helpline for deserving students
1800-30000-388.
Dr.
Shandil while launching the campaign said that Aryans Group is one of the
leading groups in the Chandigarh region who took these kinds of initiatives for
deserving students. He also extended his good wishes to the Group.
Dr.
Shandil further said that Central Govt. has budgeted Rs. 6500 crore for SC/ST
students of the country. But students due to lack of awareness especially of
rural areas cannot take the advantage of the schemes to the full extent.
Speaking
on the occasion, Chairman, Aryans Group of Colleges, Dr Anshu Kataria, said
that Post Matric Scholarship Scheme's main objective is to award scholarships
to meritorious students belonging to economically weaker sections of minority
community.
He
further added that the Scholarship is awarded to the students who have
secured not less than 50% marks or equivalent grade in the previous final
examination and the annual income of whose parents/guardian from all sources
does not exceed Rs. 2.5 Lakh for SC, Rs. 4.5 Lakh for ST & Rs. 1 Lakh for
OBC.
Director
General, Aryans Group, Dr. Parveen Kataria said that the students coming under
minority category in India like Sikhs, Muslims, Buddhists, Jainism and
Parsi can avail the benefit of Ministry of Minority Affairs
(MOMA) scholarship. In MOMA, the Govt. has allocated an amount of
Rs.820 crore for 2013-14.
On
the occasion Dr. Shandil also flagged off 5 members team namely Ms. Shashi
Kiran, Ms. Lakshmi, Mr. Himanshu, Mr. Gurpreet Singh and Mr. Kapil
Batra who will move to different areas of HP to motivate the students for
higher education and to avail the benefits of Govt. sponsored scholarship
schemes.
