Sh Vijay Sampla launches Aryans Scholarship under “Beti Bachao,Beti Padhao”
Chandigarh based Aryans Group of
Colleges launched special scholarship scheme for needy and deserving
girls under “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” scheme. The scheme was
launched today in a function held by Aryans Group at PHD Chamber, Sec-31,
Chandigarh. Sh. Vijay Sampla, Minister of State for Social Justice and
Empowerment was the Chief Guest; Harjit Singh Grewal, Chairman, Punjab Khadi
Board was the Guest of Honour while Dr Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group of
Colleges presided over the event.
While speaking on the occasion Chief
Guest, Sh Vijay Sampla said that we are living in 21stcentury but
the people living here still have a mindset of 18th century who
are discriminating between sons and daughters. Modifying the theme he quoted it
should be “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, Beta Samjhao” so that boys could also feel
the importance on the same.
Under this scheme 50 girls would be
benefitted in which 50% of scholarship will be provided by the college and rest
50% will be financed in shape of Education Loan by on Engineering and
Diploma Courses. This is to enable the financially constrained girls to
explore their potential in engineering and technology fields who either
are choosing short term and courses. Those girls who want to avail this

Sh. Harjit Singh Grewal, Chairman,
Punjab Khadi Board while appreciating the major initiatives for girls education
said that Promotion of Women’s education has been one of the cornerstones of
our educational policy. Unfortunately, girls still face discrimination in our
society. Son preference has led to various abhorrent practices including female
foeticide. New initiatives have, therefore, become necessary to give the girl
child her due, and to empower her for a life of equality and dignity.
Chairman, Aryans Group of Colleges,
Dr Anshu Kataria said, “We are delighted to launch this new Scholarship which
will hopefully encourage more young women in India to enroll in technology and
engineering courses.” He further said that girls are doing well in sports,
education, health sectors and agriculture but there ratio is very less in
technical courses due to their non interest, High fee structure and with a
mindset that they could not perform well in technical courses.

Dr. J.S Dhaliwal; Sh. Kuldeep Bhangewala; Sh Ravinder Kataria; Sh Amrit Sagar; Director General, Aryans
Group, Dr. Parveen Kataria; Registrar, Aryans Group, Prof B.S Sidhu; Principal,
Aryans Group, Dr. Manjula Kataria were also present.
